Why Ceylon Cloves
Grown in mid country wet zones of Sri Lanka, unopened, nail shaped dried flower buds has long been used in multiple industries for its numerous health benefits. Ceylon clove is considered superior to the other types of clove found in the global market, as it contains the right aroma, flavor and for its rich medical qualities.
Ceylon clove is strong and sweet with a bit of bitterness than the other cloves. Compared to other cloves found in the market, Ceylon clove is rich in oil, hence it holds a high price and a demand in world markets. And it is within safe limits recommended by FAO/WHO guidelines.
Process of production
Ceylon cloves is harvested once every year from December to April. The yellowish pink colored flower buds are harvested from tall trees.
The nail shaped unopened flower buds will be sun dried on clean mats away from direct sun light to preserve their shape. They will be turned around frequently to ensure they get an even brown color. The buds will be dried for 4 to 5 days under strict food safe environment to produce the world-renowned Ceylon clove.
